Hello! I'm a software engineer and community manager here at inxton. I'm probably working on a new feature or shooting a video for you...when I'm not in the office I ride on the wakeboard 🏄♂️ or I'm planning a trip somewhere🗺
Nowadays, an iPhone has so much power that it could control 120,000,000 Apollo-era spacecraft to the moon, all at the same time 📲
And whether you like it or not, the iPhone is a computer. A personal one. A PC.
PLCs are also computers, but not very personal though. But essentially, they're doing the same thing!
They take inputs and compute an output.
The power of a PC is undeniable, growing each year at a pace that only a few can match 📈
Beckhoff's realized the power of PC early on, and nowadays it offers the power of modern PCs in your industrial cabinet. And somehow, some people claim that PC-based PLCs are not "fast enough" or not suitable for industrial automation.
BUT THAT'S NOT ALL
You don't buy a phone just because of the hardware, it's the software that counts!
And Beckhoff has nailed the software part too! With Visual Studio and C# .NET tooling, suddenly the doors open where there used to be the walls.
And to build the software of tomorrow, you have to use the tools of today!
And who knows, maybe it will take us to Mars one day 🤷♂️🚀
